Who is the AEW World Champion?
| Title | Champion | Won at | Latest defense |

| AEW World Championship | Will Ospreay | All In: London, Aug. 30, 2026, over Kenny Omega | WrestleDream, Oct. 17, 2026, Clockwork Carnage |
The champion's name was read from the champions block on AEW's official roster page on Monday, Oct. 12, at 4:44 a.m. ET, and it matched Wikipedia's list of current AEW champions. The WrestleDream result comes from AEW's own results page and Fightful, which agree that Ospreay retained.
How did Ospreay keep the title at WrestleDream?
The main event was Clockwork Carnage, a match type AEW built for this show. Eight wrestlers took part: Ospreay, Samoa Joe, Mike Bailey, Adam Copeland, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet and Darby Allin. As AEW describes it, wrestlers enter one by one, and then the wrestlers still in the match compete against a clock, with the most falls deciding the champion. Ospreay came out of it still holding the belt, per AEW and Fightful.
Eleven days earlier, AEW's results page for the Tuesday, Oct. 6 Dynamite from Paris has Ospreay keeping the title against Okada. We found no second source for that match, so treat it as AEW's account.
When is the AEW World Championship defended next?
No next title defense is announced on the pages we checked on Monday, Oct. 19. If AEW announces one, it will show up on our list of every current AEW champion, which also covers the other nine AEW titles, including the World Trios Championship that changed hands at WrestleDream.
What show is the champion on?
AEW's champions appear on Dynamite (TBS) and Collision (TNT). The next Dynamite is listed for Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. ET on TBS; see our Dynamite page. Every WrestleDream result is on our WrestleDream page, and the whole week's lineup is on the TV schedule.
