Who is hosting, and who is the musical guest?
Jalen Brunson hosts for the first time. NBC's announcement leans on his summer: he was named MVP of the 2026 NBA Finals, the series that gave the New York Knicks their first championship in 53 years.
KATSEYE is the musical guest, also a debut. NBC describes the group as Grammy-nominated, with a third EP, WILD, out and a tour running.

Who is new in the cast, and who left?
Two featured players join: Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter. Reiter, born in 2001, is the first cast member born in this century.
Chloe Fineman is gone after seven seasons; she announced her exit in July. Bowen Yang left earlier, during season 51's Christmas show in December 2025. Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline move up to repertory, and Michael Che and Colin Jost stay on Weekend Update.
